PAT TESTING (Portable Appliance Testing)
PAT Testing is a process widely adopted by companies to manage the safety of electrical equipment in the workplace.
All electrical appliances must be periodically tested to ensure that they are safe for use in the appropriate environment. It is a statutory requirement and many insurance companies require the insured to comply with all current regulations. Testing also ensures that Businesses and Landlords meet with the legal obligations as set out under current legislation, a few of which are:

-
The Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974
-
The Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989
-
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations of 1998
-
The Housing Act 2004 (England and Wales)
-
The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016

Each year 25.9% of electrical fires are attributed to faulty appliances and leads and over a 4 year average 48 deaths per year were associated with electrical consumer products*. The Health & Safety Executive estimates that more than 25% of all accidents related to electric use involve portable appliances. Portable appliances can include computers and monitors, printers, toasters, fridges, kettles and anything else that is typically used in everyday tasks. Having a periodic testing and maintenance program can seriously reduce the chances of a serious accident happening and thus protecting yourself, employees and tenants.
Our test engineers are fully qualified to City and Guilds 2377-77 and test according to the IET Code of Practice 5th Edition. Every appliance will be tested to the same high standard. This includes a thorough visual inspection, electrical checks and finally a functional test to determine that the appliance is safe for continued use and no maintenance is required.
Results will be recorded, a personalised asset register will be created and issued, along with a detailed report and Certificate.
